Make me the happiest machine in the world and go buy some of his art.*

I’m just going to throw in a few of his when the urge strikes me. Guy could do it all — monsters, machines, babes, freaky landscapes, pirate and what ya gotta call farmer surrealism. One of my faves who enriched my childhood and teens.

Yeah, it’s a cool image, but I confess this is in here because I own a copy.

*The source original terrible joke: What did the robot suitor say when he proposed to Miss Robot? “Marry me, and make me the happiest machine in the world.”

  1. Splendid array. Will come back to it over several days. I still think Freas has an edge because of those untouchable Rockwell satires, and, you know, a zillion MAD covers. As well as my favorite cross-cultural noodle-loop — The cover of Man’s “Slow Motion” that cropped Freas’s original painting because label honchos thought free-speech zealots MAD would sue. And Bill Gains very well might have.
