Prince

I can’t even bring myself to acknowledge he’s gone. Not yet.

Unlikely as hell but appropriately, I heard the news over the radio. I was instantly back at the Harvard Coop record store in 1979, looking at the album Prince, preparing to buy it. “What an interesting-looking fellow.” A thought I never forgot.

  1. I listened to “The Gold Experience”when I got home and I was shocked to hear -right before “Shhh”- a voice in Spanish say out loud: “Prince is dead. Prince is dead. Long live the new Power Generation”. A fitting epitaph by the man himself.
