Most families had guns when and where I grew up. They were properly regarded as dangerous tools used for hunting. Owning a handgun was considered suspicious, even creepy, unless you were a cop. They were only good for killing people.
Now when and where I’m becoming an old man, guns are insanely regarded as the incarnation of freedom, used for whatever and whenever and wherever by whoever. You can be investigated by the FBI twice and still legally buy an assault rifle, which is only good for killing lots of people, really fast.
There’s the area America has gone to hell.
