Stuff in the Air That Came Out of Speakers Today #39

Chuck Berry, The Chess Box (1988, disc 3 — “1964 to 1973”)

Sides that were largely obscured by more, ahem, “modern” rock and roll. Still purity incarnate. And I’ll take the sequence “Tulane”/”Have Mercy Judge”/”My Dream” as much as any trio of tracks from the, ahem, “classic” years. A summer without at least some Chuck Berry is a wasted season. (Favorite lost wacky work: “It Wasn’t Me.”) ((“Bio” is a sweet coda, too.))
