The Lessons of Watergate Are Not Unlearned …

… They’re outright rejected. So the whole business can be misremembered and misrepresented. I thought Ford’s instant pardon of Nixon was as outrageous — if not as illegal — as anything Tricky Dick had done. That certified the whole nonstop unto this day stream of insidious nonsense. Anything a Republican POTUS does is legal. If an R-POTUS or immediate circle does something that is obviously a crime, they must suffer no consequences. Lying about ordering illegal activity is the same as lying about your noncriminal sex life. Watergate was a cooked-up nothing so any cooked-up nothing should be as effectively destructive. Just repeat allegations until they become “facts.”
