“Miles To Go” didn’t do as well in 2016 as in 2015, though it’s the usual perplexing mixed-bag of results. There were about 5,000 fewer views, but that’s explained by the previous year including not only a couple of terrific plugs from the Hon. Charlie P. Pierce, but a couple of exceptionally popular obits and the mysterious “‘Simpsons’ Marathon Phenomenon” wherein this post became involved in some huge Facebook discussion that I know nothing about since I don’t touch that Face (or Book any time there).
What saddens me, though, is that visitors were down by about 5,000 as well — esp. a bummer given that the first three months of 2016 were up, up, up. Looked like the third year of the blog was going to be as big a jump over the second as the second had been over the first. Things did not go kablooey, but visitors declined in April and May (most, yes, when we were out of town and I did not post as often) and then kinda puttered along until Nov., when I got another plug from the Hon. Charlie.
The best development is that serious blog reviews continue to be considered “real” reviews by more and more music and book outlets and so qualify me to keep getting promo. A sign of respect, I hope.
