Followup on Harry Shearer

The comment from “SeattleGuy” expresses my sentiments exactly. Except that instead of “dignity” (which the show has always mercifully avoided) I would say that Shearer remembered the integrity that “The Simpsons” once had, long, long ago. Back when the show understood that sexism and nyuk-nyuk bigotry were not bold or irreverent, but simply reactionary.

I can’t express how much I agree that the show’s original promise certainly called for a much finer legacy than the one it will have.
